Wow, been about a week since I have last posted, I'm falling behind.
Well this thing was the social media(as it says above). I reviewed the four different recommended sites and decided to set up an account with reddit.com . The reason I chose this site over the others was that in the tour it indicated that as I rate different articles it will bring ones that it thinks I will enjoy to my attention. Now the other sites may offer similar services but they did not seem to indicate them on their tours.

it turned out that the article had actually been submitted to reddit yesterday and so I simply voted on it. How many articles i have to vote on before it starts recomending topics for me i do not know.
Again I can see how this may be usefull to the library in many different areas, tracking local news, areas that are know to interest the patrons at that library ect. However in my job and the minimal amout of patron interaction i have, this tool will only be usefull to me if i use it at home.
and i have looked at some articles that i have found through reddit, one was on the front page about an amputee that now has a mermaid tail prosthetic: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10171471-1.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Crave
and the other was just one i searched for.
well got to go, might be able to work some on the next thing today if it is a slow day.
